Unless you've been hidden away from the world over the passed 18 years, you will probably have heard of the case of the West Memphis Three. The case where three teens were tried and wrongfully convicted of the murder of three boys in 1994. The story made front pages the world over and the Paradise Lost documentaries were made, chronicling the ongoing story. Well, now there is a new documentary, entitled West of Memphis, which is directed by Amy Berg and produced by Peter Jackson, which takes a new look at the case of Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley. You can check out the trailer below. West of Memphis opens at select theaters on December 25th from Sony Pictures Classics.

The film is about Joyce Vincent, a 38 year old woman who lay dead in her apartment for three years before she was discovered. The DVD is released on December 11th.
Filthy Review - 'In Their Skin'
In Their Skin
(2012)
Review by
Jude Felton
The reason
home invasion movies work so effectively, is that that play right into our very
deepest fears; the fear of being attacked in the one place you should feel
safe. Of course, this only works in films that use this fear and tension
correctly. I mean, Home Alone was for all intents and purposes a home invasion
flick, but it is not exactly scary is it?
The zombies will definitely not be running in 'Morbid'
Here's some cool news, and that is some new posters, stills and red band trailer for the upcoming horror flick, Morbid. The film is directed by m'man Chuck Conry, who many of you will know from his blog, Zombies Don't Run, and this is his directorial debut. The film is now in post-production and is set for a 2013 release.

Terrific cast, excellent movie. More details below.

New clip from 'The Collection' debuts
I've given a fair bit of coverage to this film, because quite frankly I am excited to see it! A new clip from the upcoming The Collection has just gone live today. Entitled "Hide and Seek" it shows Arkin (Josh Stewart) doing a little exploring. The Collection hits theaters from LD Entertainment on November 30th, so we can be thankful for that. In the meantime, enjoy your Halloween!
'Corpiii Pierdere' to shoot in January from the director of 'Velvet Road'
Some very cool news just in, and that is about the upcoming feature length film from L Gustavo Cooper, who directed the excellent short Velvet Road. Based on Romanian folklore of a curse dating back to the 1500's, Copiii Pierdere will be based in the present day and is described as 'Lovely Molly meets Drag Me To Hell'. Filthy Review - 'Miami Connection'
Miami
Connection (1987)
Review by Jude
Felton
Miami
Connection is the latest film to hit from Drafthouse Films, and it is without a
doubt the most thought-provoking, deep and understated movie that I have had
the pleasure to watch in recent years. Yeah, right! It is from Drafthouse
Films, and it is a pleasure to watch, but the rest was an absolute crock; Miami
Connection is batshit mental, chicken Oriental and an absolute blast! I’ve seen
some crazy flicks this year, but this one has just leapt to the top of the
basket-weaving brigade.

V/H/S to hit US Blu-ray and DVD
Magnolia Home Entertainment, through their Magnet imprint, will be releasing the horror anthology V/H/S on Blu-ray and DVD on December 4th. So, you can hope to find this pup in your Christmas stockings! Directed by Adam Wingard, David Bruckner, Ti West, Glenn McQuaid, Joe Swanberg and Radio Silence, the anthology has definitely created quite the buzz since it debuted on VOD earlier this year. I am still looking forward to catching it, myself!
First official stills for 'Frankenstein's Army' have arrived
Dark Sky Films have just released the first official stills from the eagerly anticipated World War 2 horror flick, Frankenstein's Army. Directed by Richard Raaphorst, who was to direct the ill-fated Worst Case Scenario, the stills feature "Propellerhead", who uses his blades to mow through the Russian battaliions, and Dr. Frankenstein (Karel Roden) taking a closer look at a subject. Can't wait for this movie to hit the screens!

The David Koepp directed action flick, Premium Rush, which stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Michael Shannon will be hitting Blu-ray and DVD (with UltraViolet) on December 21st from Sony Home Entertainment. The extras included on this release will be two featurettes and the film is rated PG-13.
Filthy Review - 'Coma'
Coma (2012)
Review by
Jude Felton
Coma is a
mini-series that originally aired on A&E over the Labor Day weekend in the
States. It’s based on the 1977 novel by Robin Cook and the movie adaptation from
Michael Crichton in 1978, which starred Michael Douglas, and it has now been
released on DVD. This, of course, means that you can now sit through the 2 hour
and 40 minute running time without the distraction of endless commercials.
'Outpost: Black Sun' coming to Blu-ray and DVD
November 6th will see Outpost: Black Sun hit Blu-ray and DVD from XLrator Media. Personally I thought the first Outpost film was decent fun, although it didn't really live up to its complete potential. I am hoping that Black Sun will rectify this, and from what I have seen it looks good so far. Included on the release will be a 'making of' feature.

Filthy Review - 'King of Devil's Island'
King of Devil’s
Island (2010)
Review by Jude
Felton
King of Devil’s
Island is a Norwegian film that I will admit to not having been aware of until
quite recently. I don’t believe it has a US release, as of writing this, but it
is now set to hit Blu-ray and DVD in the UK, courtesy of the ever reliable
Arrow Films. Credit is due to Arrow for picking this film up, as it is a quite
terrific movie, for giving us a chance to see a film that might have unfairly
slipped out of the public consciousness, had it not been for this release.
Filthy Review - 'Sinister'
Sinister
(2012)
Review by Jude
Felton
Regardless of
how good or bad this film ended up being, I can’t help but question the name of
the film. It’s right up there with Insidious, which is incidentally from the
same producer, in having one of those incredibly dodgy names. What does work in
its favor is the fact that it reveals nothing about the plot, as was the case
with Insidious.
Filthy Review - 'Some Guy Who Kills People' UK Blu-ray
Some Guy Who
Kills People (2011)
Review by
Jude Felton
This review
will be slightly shorter than usual, not because it doesn’t warrant a longer one;
it’s because I previously reviewed the US DVD release and if you have read that
you will know that I think this is a truly terrific movie. This review is for
the UK Blu-ray release, and yes they got it on Blu back across the pond!
Filthy Review - 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter'
Abraham
Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (2012)
Review by Jude
Felton
The popular
trend of mashing up historical figures, or literary ones, has never really
appealed to me. It just never floated my boat, but that’s maybe because I read
a very poor novel that mixed zombies into a great story and spoiled it.
Actually, I had no time for them even before that. So, when Abraham Lincoln:
Vampire Hunter came along, I was torn. I never read the novel, which Seth
Grahame-Smith adapted the screenplay from his book, but at the back of my mind
I was thinking “here we go again”. On the flipside, the film is produced by Tim
Burton and directed by Timur Bekmambetov; both of whom I have a lot of time
for. Which side would win out?
