Filthy Review - 'Sleep Tight'

Sleep Tight (2011)

Review by Jude Felton

If director Jaume Balaguero is to be believed, you will probably won’t to avoid taking up residency in a Spanish apartment building. One half of the team that closed off an entire building, due to it problem with zombie-like creatures, in the first two [REC] movies, Balaguero is back in an apartment building and this time he will be happy with nothing less than terrifying you in Sleep Tight.

Filthy Review - 'Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines'

Wrong Turn 5 (2012)

Review by Jude Felton

A couple of years ago I would not have thought that there would have been a Wrong Turn 4, let alone a 5th movie, in this franchise. However, it seems that the Wrong Turn movies have more legs than a hillbilly’s chest freezer. It’s been a franchise with highs and lows, I didn’t bother with Part 3 due to some scathing comments from friends, but on the whole this is a series of films that I have really enjoyed. They are simple, gory and cheesy fun, and for me hark back to the simpler times of the early 80s when slasher flicks didn’t need too much in terms of plot; they just got in, did their damage and left you bleeding.

Filthy Music Review - 'Cradle of Filth: The Manticore and other Horrors'

Cradle of Filth: The Manticore and Other Horrors (2012)

Review by Jude Felton

The last year of so has seen a couple of new releases from England’s Cradle of Filth. There was the Evermore Darkly EP, which contained remixes and other odds and sods, and then we had the orchestral Midnight in the Labyrinth, which quite frankly is wonderful. However, the last full length studio album proper from Cradle was 2010’s Darkly, Darkly, Venus Aversa. That was a good solid album, but for my money there was only one or two really stand-out tracks. If anything it was, and I hate to say it, a little soulless.

Filthy Review - 'Amsterdamned'

Amsterdamned (1988)

Review by Jude Felton

As a movie collector I am a little late in the game when it has come to the releases by the English label Shameless Screen Entertainment. I have a few on my shelf, with more on their way, and I have to say that I like what they are doing. Their latest release is the Dutch flick Amsterdamned, a title that is slightly obscure, more so with a younger audience, but I recall it getting a quite substantial VHS release back in the day.
